WOW, doesn’t this feel novel? An actual gig announcement and an actual gig in 2020?!
Whilst it feels alien to be writing and talking about gigs again, the feeling of putting on a show that you love and believe in will never tire! So it is with great pleasure I am able to welcome back Jon Gomm to Wiltshire.
Jon is a guitar virtuoso. Does it sound corny or cringe to say that? It doesn’t matter because Jon is the very definition of someone with outstanding technical ability.
He rose to prominence through his YouTube channel, where his unique style of playing was capturing the imaginations of many musicians around the world, but his breakthrough really came with the track, Passionflower (video below) that garnered over 17 million views.
His channel’s videos now average over the million mark, which is no mean feat for someone who lacked all label and associated backing. He did this by himself, by being utterly stunning and above all brilliant to experience.
Being classically trained, it is perhaps surprising his technical ability wasn’t lost on the metal scene, where he was given slots at Download Festival, which he has become a bit of a cult hero – Give YouTube a quick look to see the appreciation he receives.
With an array of pedals at his disposal with all manner of delays and reverbs in his arsenal, Jon builds layers of sounds, often using the percussive ability of his acoustic guitar to add dimensions to the live sound.
His last gig for Sheer Music was in a church and promptly sold out, this next show is also in a Church, this time at Emmanuels Yard in Trowbridge.
A brand new venue to the scene, this beautiful 300 cap venue is going to be an exciting part of Trowbridge’s future, and I cannot think of a better way of kicking things off, than with a gig of this calibre.
