No sooner has the dust settled after Frank Turner announced his Level III show in Swindon, another member of the band is announcing their Wiltshire return. Cue Nigel Powell aka Sad Song Co and quite possibly the nicest drummer we’ve ever met (we’re still holding out on meeting Dave Grohl one day…) rocking up at The Lamb in Devizes on February 16th.
Nigel is the former drummer in 90’s rock band, the Unbelievable Truth, 00’s Noiseniks Dive Dive and most recently seen at the stool in the Sleeping Souls (who need little introduction here.) (Note: those with really long memories will remember Nigel dragging his drum kit into the crowd when Dive Dive tore Devizes apart on their debut album tour…)
You may also remember that Nigel played as Sad Song Co in Chippenham last year at Old Road Tavern, which was a lovely show and came with some excellent supports (Non Canon & Mike Barham). The attendance was excellent and the show just fantastic.
This 4th solo album “Worth” was recorded by Graeme Stewart (Radiohead) and mixed by Chris Kasych (Adele, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young etc) which is due for release the same week as this gig & tour, so you can guarantee that for a brief period, all eyes will be on Nigel from our scene! And if like me you’re pining for Chris T-T *still* rest easy, as Chris provided lyrics for the album. I won’t ruin which track, just see if you can figure it out.
OK, so tickets for the show are available from WeGotTickets priced £6.50 adv. £7.50 otd, and this venue is 14+.
