I realise the gig is announced (and selling well!) but, rather belatedly, Sheer Music & Hit Or Miss are proud to present… ASH.
Straight off the bat, after our previous successful event together, All Roads To Frome, we team up with our brother-from-another-mother, Mr Rob Dahl of the Cheese & Grain & Hit Or Miss to create an all star promotion team! Rob has since taken a new role at The Cheese & Grain, and become the numero uno booker at venue. We’re equally pleased and proud for him, well done Rob, no one deserves it more!
OK, so onto business. Being able to book ASH is a teenage dream come true. After promoting for nearly 13 years, I’ve often fantasised about booking this band or that band and ASH have been an act who have consistently been top of the list.
I remember playing ASH covers with Fru in bedrooms and school rooms as teenagers, before we had even been to our first gigs. I remember scavenging the singles bins at Woolworths, buying cassettes, CDs and Vinyl saving up lunch money to afford them. This is an absolute true story, Craig from PR Sounds would testify. (You can actually see my Ash record collection on the Sheer Instagram).
I’ve been to see them on almost every major UK tour, since the single “A Life Less Ordinary”, went to the 1977 one offs at the Roundhouse, managed to get to do Tim’s sound at Sound Knowledge on his solo album, and caught their earlier trio-acoustic show also at Sound Knowledge, where I purposefully wore my Jetplane Landing t-shirt to get a reaction out of them, which it did!
They have sound tracked my summers since 96′ and to be hosting them is an absolute dream come true. PINCH ME!
(NB. In the unlikely event you don’t know Ash are, they formed in Ireland in 1992. Releasing a string of top 10 albums, including two number ones. They have won awards for their songwriting, provided music for films and computer games, headlined major festivals, and are all round heroes of British music.)
